Living the Castello

(soon open all year round)
The simple pleasures of village life surrounded by natural beauty can be combined with art, architecture, marvelous food and wine in the nearby cities in and about Umbria and Tuscany. Both Florence and Rome are just 100 km away from Parrano, little more than an hour by car. Summer means open-air concerts, festivals and shows to be enjoyed in both provinces.

There are horseback trails and paths for walking in and about the estate, walks over the hills with extraordinary views over fields, groves and woods. You can go out on a mountain bike, play a game of tennis, hunt or go fishing in one of the lakes. Golf lovers will be pleased to hear that a 36-hole course is being constructed that will wind in and out of olive groves, vineyards, fields and woods over the hills and on the plains.

Those who prefer nature in her wild state can go into the Parrano Gorge where they can, with the proper climbing equipment, descend the right wall of the canyon guided by local experts. In the woods of the left side of the Gorge are the Bagno caves, some twenty karstic caverns carved into the gorge walls. They have been called the Devil’s Lairs. Then, when you finally reach the end of the ravine, you can relax in the warm water of the naturally magnesium and sulfur-rich thermal waters.

The Castello and the estate are inseparable parts of the Principality’s revalorization project, a project that aims to make better use of the thermal springs, the vineyards and the whole natural, historical and architectural context of the area.
