The hunting reserve

Partridges, pheasant, grouse, hare and wild boar are typical of the territory. Large areas for training dogs and organising the hunt. Numerous lovely lakes, watering holes for the animals.

The reserve has always been famous for the abundance and variety of its game. In the height of the hunting season, every Sunday hunt ended with a procession of hunters and their vehicles full of small game. The rural buildings, part of the reserve, and especially the Casina di Caccia on Pian di Meano, still have their cosy refuges with large fireplaces and halls in which the success of the hunt was celebrated. Historical documents tell of abundant game and hunting excursions. The fiefdom of Parrano remains a splendid and intact natural environment where time seems to have stood still.

Photographic hunting now often takes the place of game or trophy hunting, attracting nature lovers to our area, still so pristine and untouched.
