The Castello’s Wine Cellars |
|
Winemaking is a vocation that has been native to this territory since time immemorial and the wine cellars of the Castello tell the story of a thousand years of it as you follow its fascinating underground route. The Grapperia marks the entrance and is an obligatory stop for those passionate about wine. In it we organise tastings and, above all, suggest the right pairing of food and wine. But even more importantly, it is a cultural journey. From the Grapperia we proceed into the cellars themselves. As you walk through the tunnels, carved into the hard cold rock, you can immediately feel the temperature drop and you smell the aroma of the cave that brings you to the pupitres cellar, where spumante rests peacefully fermenting in the bottle. The long brick vaulted ceilings and the walls of carved rock defend the wine’s rest. A second half-dark tunnel full of history and emotions must be taken to get to the vaulted-ceiling barriques cellar. It is humid here, a humidity that protects the wine in the great wooden barrels. It is truly a thrilling journey into the past. |
